The Cooper Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services is seeking a dynamic, early to mid-career Transfusion Medicine Physician to join our faculty. This is a full-time academic position offering a unique blend of clinical leadership, academic collaboration, and involvement in a rapidly expanding cellular therapy program.

As the Assistant Medical Director of the Blood Bank, you will join an institution defined by its collaborative spirit. Cooper University Health Care (CUHC) is the region’s leading tertiary care provider and a proud affiliate of MD Anderson Cancer Center. Key aspects CUHC include:

• Trauma Leadership: We serve the busiest Level 1 Trauma Center in Southern New Jersey, including pioneering programs for EMS ground and helicopter blood transfusions.
• Oncology & Cellular Therapy: In partnership with MD Anderson, we support a robust Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy program. We are currently expanding our apheresis and cellular therapy services, providing the successful candidate with a significant opportunity to help shape the future of these programs.
• Educational Excellence: You will hold a faculty appointment at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). Responsibilities include mentoring and teaching a diverse cohort, including medical students, pathology residents, hematology-oncology fellows, and laboratory technologists.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide attending coverage for the Transfusion Medicine and Apheresis service.
• Serve as Assistant Medical Director, assisting in the technical and clinical oversight of the Blood Bank.
• Lead educational initiatives and curriculum development for trainees and staff.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in trauma, oncology, and surgery to optimize patient outcomes and blood utilization.

• MD or DO with Board Certification (or eligibility) by the American Board of Pathology in Transfusion Medicine.
• Early to mid-career professional with a desire for long-term growth and leadership development.
• Experience or strong interest in Apheresis and Cellular Therapy processing and clinical applications.
