We are seeking a visionary, board-certified Transfusion Medicine Physician to lead the development of a brand-new, state-of-the-art Therapeutic Apheresis Program and provide clinical oversight for our hospital Blood Bank at Orlando Health.

The Role

As the Director, you will bridge the gap between laboratory science and bedside patient care:

• Establish the Apheresis Program: Design and implement protocols for therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), red cell exchange, and leukoreduction.
• Blood Bank Oversight: Provide medical direction for the transfusion service, ensuring compliance with AABB and FDA standards.
• Clinical Consultation: Act as the subject matter expert for surgical, hematology/oncology, and ICU teams regarding complex transfusion cases and coagulation disorders.

Key Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Clinical Pathology (or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology, with option to do AP work as well).
• Active, unrestricted Florida Medical License or the ability to obtain one.
• Fellowship training and Board Eligibility/Certification in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine.
• Demonstrated experience or a strong desire to lead an Apheresis unit and manage laboratory personnel.   
• A collaborative spirit and the ability to educate nursing staff and residents.
