We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Transfusion Medicine Pathologist to join our fantastic team at the Mayo Clinic. This is an opportunity to provide cutting-edge care to our patients by utilizing the latest technology and collaborative approaches. As a Transfusion Medicine Pathologist, you will have a key role in reviewing and interpreting transfusion-related laboratory data and developing and coordinating transfusion medicine services. The ideal candidate will have board certification in Transfusion Medicine and/or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology, as well as fellowship training in Transfusion Medicine.
In addition, you should have experience in laboratory management, including the development of laboratory policies and procedures, staff supervision, and quality assurance. You must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with laboratory personnel, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals in order to coordinate activities that support the care of the transfused patient. There are currently 38 AP/CP pathologists in the practice, with four transfusion medicine experts, covering blood bank, apheresis, and human cell therapy.
Our practice includes commercial and investigational cell therapies, stem cell transplant and solid organ transplant. We are recognized by the State of Florida as a Cancer Center of Excellence, and we are a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated comprehensive cancer care center.
Responsibilities:
Review and interpret transfusion-related laboratory data.
Develop and coordinate transfusion medicine services.
Develop laboratory policies and procedures.
Supervise staff and ensure quality assurance.
Effectively interact with laboratory personnel, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Coordinate activities that support the care of the transfused patient.
Provide excellent patient care.
Advance medical science.
Provide education and support to medical learners.
The candidate should be board certified in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine, with a fellowship in transfusion medicine.
The candidate should be adaptable and versatile, able to cover all three services (blood bank, apheresis, and cell therapy).
The candidate should have an academic interest to support research and educational responsibilities.
