The successful self-motivated and detail-oriented professional will oversee the department’s administrative, technical, and business management aspects to ensure operations are consistent with the hospital’s strategic goals, policies, and procedures, and comply with NYSDOH/TJC regulatory standards. Reporting to the Medical Director/Pathology Chair and VP of Operations, you’ll:
- Lead the department’s fiscal affairs, including planning, budgeting, and material management, striving for optimal efficiency and productivity of all resources
- Direct technical staff to ensure accurate and timely quality diagnostic test procedures
- In conjunction with the Chair and MD, select, evaluate, coach and counsel employees
- Actively participate in hospital-wide infection control and performance improvement efforts
- Keep abreast of current trends and communicate change with knowledge and clarity
Our ideal Director has a strong business acumen along with:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Medical Technology
- At least 6 years of clinical laboratory experience, including 2 years in management and leadership
- Knowledge of laboratory information system and experience with Change Management
