SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the guidance of the Manager of Organ Transplant and the Lead On-Call Transplant Donor Service Coordinator and in collaboration with the organ procurement organization (OPO), transplant cardiologists and transplant surgeons, the On-Call Transplant Donor Service Coordinator is responsible for screening deceased donor organ offers for the heart transplant program at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. They will also work closely with the OPO, transplant providers, transplant coordinators, operating room staff, inpatient units, pharmacy, HLA lab, blood bank and multidisciplinary team to coordinate potential heart transplants. This individual would be working varied shifts (8,12, 24-hour), rotating between days/nights including holidays and weekends. This is a fully remote position that is also responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and other regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience required.
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners.
Bachelor?s degree in nursing
AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Intensive care, organ allocation, or organ procurement organization experience
CCTC certified or obtained within three (3) years of hire
