Medical Laboratory Scientist I, MMC Blood Bank Per Diem
Responsible for a variety of routine and complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Principal Accountabilities: Comfortable with emergency situations such as Massive Transfusion Protocols' and Emergency Release', issuing uncrossmatched blood according to laboratory approved procedures Inspects/issues compatible blood and blood products for transfusion, and performs visual and temperature check on returned blood; disposes of improperly stored/labeled, punctured, outdated, contaminated or hemolyzed blood according to approved procedures Monitors blood and blood product inventory to ensure adequate supply for patient transfusion
