Under the guidance of the Solid Organ Transplant Associate Vice President and Lead On-Call Transplant Coordinator and in collaboration with the organ procurement organization (OPO) and Transplant Surgeons the On-Call Transplant Coordinator is responsible for screening deceased donor organ offers for the solid organ transplant programs (heart, kidney, liver) at Penn State Health. They will work closely with the OPO, transplant surgeons, transplant coordinators operating room, inpatient units, OR pharmacy, HLA lab, blood bank and transplant team to coordinate potential transplants. This individual would be working 12-hour shifts, rotating between days/nights including holidays and weekends. Primarily this position is a remote position. However, there may be a need to be available to come on-site in the event on an as needed basis. This position is also responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and other regulatory agencies.Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience required
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Intensive care or organ procurement organization experienceÂ
CCTC certified or obtained within three (3) years of hireÂ
Requires excellent communication and organizational skillsÂ
Must be able to function independently within the limits of the positionÂ
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
