The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking candidates for a Dual Role of Medical Lab Scientist in Stem Cell Processing Lab and & Quality Coordinator in Cellular Therapy Program. This position is eligible for full benefits.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Medical Lab Scientist in the Stem Cell Processing Lab you will process autologous Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells (HPC) for cryopreservation by various methods using aseptic techniques in a regulated clean room environment according to standard operating procedures and applicable regulations.
As the Quality Coordinator in the Cellular Therapy Program you will have an active role in preparing, reviewing, approving, or implementing Quality Management policy procedures and must ensure that the procedures are in compliance with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). Transplant and CAR T Data Input for the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR).
Performs, calculates, reviews and reports laboratory diagnostic tests. Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment. Understands the clinical significance of the testing performed. Responsibilities for teaching, training, correction of procedural/instrument issues increase through the range of MLS I to MLS III. (See Accountabilities.)
EDUCATION:
Baccalaureate degree. Current certification as Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist. (Certification tracked by department.)
EXPERIENCE:
Meets requirements of MLS II. Expanded knowledge of laboratory tests. 2 to 5 years cell processing experience preferred.
