This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The incumbent serves as the Blood Bank Technical Specialist in Immunohematology at the Nashville Campus and serves as an expert providing authoritative advice and consultation to the bench-level technologist for more difficult, complex, or unique tests requiring special knowledge in Blood Banking/Immunohematology. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Manages quality control/quality assurance activities related to blood product irradiation. Assists the Supervisory Medical Technologist in ensuring activities associated with the process improvement, customer service, data driven decision making, or team driven change are accomplished. Reviews accreditation and regulatory guidelines. Completes required in-services including, training in Joint Commission Compliance, OSHA safety compliance, patient confidentiality requirements, and computer security. Performs and analyzes validation studies. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, occasional weekends and holidays Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
