Field-based clinical, operational and blood bank subject matter expert supporting all facets of the process for the adoption and implementation of Cerus Therapeutic products within the hospital. Position will require close collaboration with both key blood bank members as well as internally with Cerus Leadership, Sales, Marketing, Deployment and Market Development teams to facilitate on-boarding of key hospitals for the use of Cerus Therapeutic products.
This role will collaborate with key blood bank leadership and sales team members to facilitate strategic market development and hospital adoption of Cerus Therapeutic products. This role will also function as a liaison for development of designated blood bank personnel to promote the adoption and use of Cerus Therapeutic products. This role will also operate as a resource for providing feedback from hospital KOLs to internal Cerus stakeholders regarding resources needed to promote the adoption of Cerus products, relevant physician and hospital practices, as well as competitive intelligence information.
Work in conjunction with designated Cerus, blood center, and blood bank leadership, Sales/Customer Service and Medical teams to set a mutually agreed upon strategy to prioritize hospital account opportunities.
Work in conjunction with designated Cerus and blood bank leadership to ensure all necessary tasks are accomplished to successfully implement and transfuse Cerus Therapeutic products.
Work in conjunction with blood bank leadership to train blood bank personnel on all processes related to the order, receipt, and dispensing of Cerus Therapeutic products.
Establish training plan and tools to equip and allow blood bank personnel to prepare hospitals for use of Cerus Therapeutic products, including order management, policy and procedure updates, IT system modifications, and hospital education.
Establish training plan and tools to equip and allow blood center field-team members to take a lead role in preparing hospitals for use of Cerus Therapeutic products including required education and implementation steps.
Work in conjunction with blood center hospital-facing teams in the development and delivery of presentations on Cerus Therapeutic for use with hospital customers.
Work in conjunction with blood center Sales/Customer Service leadership to gain alignment of Cerus Therapeutic product targets and goals to help prioritize the necessary support to facilitate client-hospital adoption of those products.
Identify tools to enhance positioning and support for pathogen reduction adoption and coordinate with Cerus marketing on deliverables.
Develop and manage hospital-facing educational programs to further the Cerus mission.
Collaborate with Therapeutic Operations to evaluate forecasting and production needs in coordination with hospital demand.
In addition to the above responsibilities, this role also requires mastery of the Therapeutic Hospital Implementation Manager key responsibilities listed below:
Support the medical/scientific, pharmacoeconomic, and operational platform for INTERCEPT by executing on all medical education, economic analyses, and operational activities associated with the adoption and implementation of Cerus Therapeutic products in hospitals.
Facilitate the completion of the clinical education and operational processes required to implement Cerus Therapeutic products in the hospital with the blood bank leadership and other clinical stakeholders (e.g., Hospital Transfusion Committee, Transfusion Safety Officer, Nursing Education, Quality Assurance, Medical Executive Committee, C-Suite).
Act as a Liaison to Blood Bank IT in the ISBT code build, Error Checking function within the LIS, and with the Hospital IT for the build of bedside scanning for Cerus Therapeutic products.
Facilitate hospital data input and presentation of the pharmacoeconomic modeling results for strategies related to Cerus Therapeutic products to the appropriate hospital stakeholders, including the hospital C-suite as required.
Actively engage with hospital billing department to provide information on coding, billing, and reimbursement for Cerus Therapeutic products.
Identify potential hospital case studies/content for white papers or other publications supporting the adoption/implementation or routine use of Cerus Therapeutic products in conjunction with the Market Development Strategy leadership.
Respond to and document unsolicited requests for information from HCPs.
Provide feedback from the field to internal Cerus stakeholders on hospital operational and clinical practices, competitive intelligence information, and new clinical practices.
Provide support to Cerus Market Development Strategy leadership team as required in identifying participants for advisory board meetings, collaborators on white papers, authors for abstract submissions for scientific meetings and other project support as identified.
Understand and adhere to all relevant company compliance policies and industry/government regulations.
Maintain all relevant professional certifications and licensure.
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum 10 years of clinical and/or blood center field-leadership in a hospital, scientific research, or medical science liaison experience working in transfusion medicine/hematology/blood banking/blood safety or a related field.
Documented history of success working with hospital personnel who are key decision makers, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel and C-suite staff involved in the adoption and implementation of new technologies within the hospital.
The individual must have successful track record of engaging with key blood center and hospital personnel including but not limited to administrators, physicians and patient care staff.
The candidate must also readily display the knowledge gained by the above experience by a comprehensive understanding of hospital operations and navigating the hospital new products approval process via hospital committees and administrative approval.
Documented history of success in conceptualizing, developing and executing strategic plans and supporting data/materials that critically evaluate how to pursue multiple targets and resource allocation to optimize return in a dynamic changing marketplace.
Ability to analyze, interpret, and present clinical and scientific data to clinicians and other relevant stakeholders.
Experience in preparing and/or presenting all pertinent materials required for customer and hospital committee(s) review of new medical products.
Ability to support hospital blood bank implementation processes required for the use of Cerus Therapeutic products.
Ability to translate hospital adoption successes into case studies and other presentations at regional and national conferences.
Experience in developing KOLs/HCPs to support new medical technologies.
Highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational process skills.
Strong presentation skills in small and large group settings.
Ability to communicate effectively (encompasses verbal, written, oral, interpersonal, listening); ability to communicate across multiple disciplines successfully (internally and externally).
Experience with and ability to travel nationwide.
Bachelor’s Degree Required, preferred advanced clinical based degree, RN, MS, PharmD, PhD including however not limited to the fields of Clinical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Immunology, Biology, Public Health or IT. Prior work experience in the blood center and hospital setting is highly desirable.
