The Associate Laboratory Director assists the Laboratory Director in overseeing the performance of the laboratory including technical matters and staff competence. The Associate Laboratory Director assists in coordinating and direct the activities of laboratory management and other service providers to ensure profitable and sustainable growth.

Assist in the execution of strategies to achieve the vision established by the executive team.
Seek out and capitalize on opportunities to profitably grow the business.

Work with little or no supervision.
Direct the laboratory through case review, performance testing, and interactions with staff.
Oversee the provision of test results and testing services.
Make decisions on technical matters.
Review, and implement validations, policies, processes, and procedures used by the laboratory.

Excellent communication to corporate leadership, DNAS teammates, outside service providers and customers.
Advanced problem solving.
Ability to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze business issues.
This position has supervisory responsibilities over some DNAS staff.
This job operates in a professional office environment. Attendance at the office is required.
This role routinely uses standard laboratory and office equipment such as centrifuges, pipettes, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
This is a safety sensitive position as defined by state and federal laws that will require working with hazardous materials and/or handling medicine. As a "safety sensitive" classification, this position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse one from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work outside of normal business hours and on weekends may be required.
Some overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.
Required Education and Experience
Requires a Doctoral degree in Medicine, Biology, Chemistry, Genetics or Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
Prior leadership experience and/or training is strongly preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in an AABB accredited relationship testing lab.
