Employee will serve as a Medical Laboratory Technician, at the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, in North Chicago, IL. The position is located in the Blood Donor Processing Division, Patient Services Directorate. ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Perform donor phlebotomy when assigned. Transition from the mobile drive site to the main facility processing site. Handle donor samples, component manufacture/testing/labeling, inventory management and shipping. Perform vital station testing for pulse, blood pressure, temperature and hemoglobin evaluation to qualify prospective donors for phlebotomy. Register donors for Blood Drive and ensure documentation on official form is accurate. Screen potential donors and discuss medical, conflict of interest or travel reasons that may defer a donation. Create and label manufactured products. Review testing for completeness and accuracy. Perform other duties as assigned.
