Miracles In Sight is a community governed not-for- profit organization dedicated to the restoration of sight through corneal transplantation. Since 1951, Miracles In Sight has provided eye-banking services to the patients, hospitals, physicians, and people of North Carolina. Our influence extends beyond the state because we collaborate with other eye banks in the country to provide transplant tissue to anyone in need, regardless of location.The Mission of Miracles In Sight is to recover, process and distribute ocular tissue for the restoration of sight through corneal transplantation and related medical therapy and research. To accomplish our Mission, we are committed to: •Educating the public and medical communities about the need for donation of eye tissue. •Ensuring that the wishes of donors and immediate family are carried out to the greatest extent possible. •Maintaining procedures to maximize quality of tissue distributed. •Working cooperatively with ophthalmologists and other professional clients to ensure optimum results for the recipient. Winston-Salem is often referred to as the “City of the Arts” because it created the first arts council in the United States and because it is home to local art schools and attractions. These include The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Stevens Center for the performing arts, and more. In addition to the arts, Winston-Salem is home to Hanes Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in North Carolina. The city also enjoys BB&T Ballpark which is home to the Winston-Salem Dash and numerous delicious restaurants featuring local cuisine. Winston-Salem is located in the northwest piedmont area of North Carolina and is situated midway between the state’s Blue Ridge and Great Smokey mountains to the west and the Atlantic beaches and Outer Banks to the east.
