Chief Technologist - Transfusion Medicine - Days
As the largest and busiest Transfusion Medicine department in New York City , we set the standards for our field. Our technologists are conducting the widest array of testing in this fast-paced, high-volume environment. Here, you will experience analysis not being performed anywhere else, including rare opportunities with antibody identification and immunohematology problems. You will assume responsibility for supervision and coordination of the laboratory personnel in the performance of quantitative and qualitative tests. Here, you will have the ability to train and guide laboratory technologists, participate in problem-solving processes and maintain quality assurance and quality control standards, among other responsibilities. As a true team leader, you will be responsible for and capable of performing all leadership and technical work as called for by the needs of the patients and the operations of the lab.
This is a full-time position working Monday - Friday, 8:00am -4:00pm, plus rotating on call responsibility.
Advanced and extensive experience in antibody identification and resolution
ASCP SBB certification
Supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory
Minimum of 6 years’ work experience in a clinical laboratory, or 4 years with a Masters, or 2 years with a PhD
A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent experience)
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license from the New York Education department
Excellent technical skills
Strong communication & organizational skills
