This Quality Assurance Medical Laboratory Specialist will be responsible for:
Supporting departmental QAPI Program with statistical data generation, analysis and project identification for process improvement.
Developing indicators of service quality and monitors performance of the labs against these indicators.
Developing and implementing tools to objectively assess service quality. Developing and conducting departmental and interdepartmental surveys to determine satisfaction, areas of improvement and other performance issues.
Designing programs to improve quality and respond to other findings of this process. Presenting results to various departmental and hospital committees.
Serving as project manager for designated departmental quality improvement projects, programs and initiatives.
Monitoring and communicating project status, identifying and resolving problems/issues and providing leadership for project teams/work groups in order to meet established goals, specifications and schedules.
Planning and overseeing provision of related training and conducts project evaluation and follow?up. Selecting, training and supervising work of temporary support personnel as needed.
Managing departmental strategies for improved customer relations. Investigates and responds to complaints and incidents.
Assessing and developing programs to improve staff satisfaction. Designing and monitoring programs to improve interactions between the labs and other internal customers, including clinicians.
Reviewing potential adverse event investigation and responses. Leading root cause analysis sessions in collaboration with laboratory managers and supervisors.
Interpreting and implementing regulatory changes.
Coordinating departmental regulatory issues including CLIA reporting, preparation for Joint Commission, CMS and other inspections.
Keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and assures that all standards are up to date and distributed to all labs.
Performing a variety of special projects and additional work as needed/assigned.
Contributing to the teamwork within and between departments and organizations.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree and additional training in the practice of total quality management.
At least 3-5 years’ experience in quality improvement, preferably in a laboratory discipline. Lean/Six Sigma training preferred.
The analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
