Assists in the management and execution of the daily operations of the Cord Blood Program team in support of the Manager. This is a “working lead” position with duties to include core job accountabilities and key skills. Other essential responsibilities across the team include: leading and contributing to cross-functional continuous improvement projects and pilots, quality monitoring of team core tasks, onboarding, training, and mentoring team members, tracking and analyzing data, developing tools and resources, and ensuring achievement of department goals. Provides daily leadership to team members in coordination with the Manager.
Masters advanced knowledge of core functional activities:
Provides subject matter expertise and support on matters related to cord blood supporting both internal and external partners.
Contributes to the organization, record keeping, generation and submission of government contract deliverables (HRSA).
Participates in the development, enhancements, operations, analytics and data integrity (accuracy) with the IT (CordSource) and Data Quality teams. Triages and troubleshoots reported issues based on assessment of internal and external partner needs and risk.
Interfaces with Marketing to promote Customer Ready Products; develops and maintains content for various NMDP websites as well as marketing materials.
Collaborates with Cord Blood Program Master Control super user and appropriate NMDP staff on the review and revision of the cord blood Manual of Operations, procedures and resource documents.
Owns and manages the cord blood bank (CBB) supplier relationship. Serves as point of contact for CBBs and maintains a bi-directional flow of information between BTM and the banks.
Conducts activities related to domestic and international CBB membership, network renewal and performance monitoring.
Manages and coordinates monthly activities for National Cord Blood Inventory (NCBI) funding allocations, including query preparation, goal review and funding assignment in support of HRSA contracts.
Supports the NMDP Cord Blood Advisory Group and sub-groups as needed.
Builds collaboration across multiple departments, stakeholders, and levels of leadership:
Identifies trends and areas of continuous improvement needs, working in partnership with leadership to analyze, propose solutions, and act on implementation of improvements.
Develops strategies to promote appropriate usage of cord blood units and support cord blood transplants.
Participates in cross-functional projects with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment across groups, advocating for team needs, and balancing the requirements of policy, procedure, and customers.
Tracks and reports team metrics to demonstrate results of core accountabilities and impact of project work, campaigns and initiatives.
Interacts with network members to ensure accuracy and consistency of information as necessary.
Provides direct support to leaders of the Cord Blood Program and Customer-Ready Products.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in health care, science, communications, non-profit management or related human service field.
Four years’ experience in a position that required building and maintaining supplier/business/customer relationships in a health care setting.
Demonstrated experience leading complex projects with proven results.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)
Experience in NMDP operations strongly preferred.
Experience working in a regulated environment, particularly as it relates to biologics and biologic drugs (i.e., GxP and other applicable regulations).
Experience in cord blood banking and/or cellular processing laboratory.
Experience with Continuous Process Improvement (CPI).
