We are seeking a Technical Services Assistant Director. Under the general operational direction of the Sr. Operations Director and the technical direction of the Medical Director, the Technical Services Assistant Director, in collaboration with the Director, will set the strategy, goals, objectives and structure of Technical Services. Responsible for the administrative and technical management of Processing Laboratory, Component Manufacturing Laboratory, and Product QC Laboratory. Perform assigned duties with wide latitude in exercising judgment and discretion. Delegate responsibilities to department leaders and support personnel as appropriate.
Core Duties include:
Manage, supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations and TS organizational structure which consists of 5 leaders and approximately 42 team members, and 3 distinct functions; Component manufacturing and distribution, Processing laboratory, and Product QC laboratory.
In partnership with respective SBC Leaders, coordinate activities and goals of departments within the Blood Center with differing objectives. Responsible for using frequently changing customer utilization patterns to make decisions regarding staffing, operations, and expenditures for areas of responsibility, collaborates with other departments to meet customer demand.
Manage implementation of policies and procedures, and ensure that employees understand and adhere to established policies and procedures.
Perform long range personnel and fiscal planning. Participate in organizational and departmental budget development in collaboration with department leadership, and effectively manage the Technical Services budget.
Monitor instrument and equipment upkeep to provide uninterrupted department operations.
Promote and exemplify service excellence through the integration and execution of key company programs (such as C-I-Care) and internally generated initiatives.
Direct training of new team members and ensure opportunities for continuing education, both in-service and via professional organizations.
Represent the Blood Center at local, state, and national meetings.

Four-year college degree. Field of study Biology, Biological Science, Chemistry, Medical Technology, and 4 years laboratory experience required. Four years of progressively responsible management experience and demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage several varied activities or functions simultaneously required.
Certifications & Licenses:
Medical Technology (ASCP) license required.
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MTA) license preferred.
Must hold or qualify for California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MTA) license (qualify if you are certified by ASCP or AAB as a Medical Technologist). If currently out of state, California license must be obtained within 12 months of start date.
