ResponsibilitiesYou will coordinate and supervise all activities in the Core, ED and Anesthesia Laboratories at RRH. This includes all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes. You will serve as a core member of the management team, along with the Manager to provide oversight for operations. You will provide direct supervision of staff and the daily operational activities. You will also provide 24/7 on call coverage. As a leader in the Clinical Laboratories, you will develop and maintain policies and procedures, oversee training and competency assessments, perform performance evaluations, liaison with clinical staff to evaluate, respond to and resolve issues, initiate corrective action and educate clinical staff. You will be a liaison between the laboratory functions with multidisciplinary groups at WW, SMH, Brentwood and UCLA Clinics. Additionally, you will initiate and maintain process improvement activities with multidisciplinary groups to ensure optimal delivery of service that meet quality, cost efficiencies and customer service goals of UCLA Heath.
Current California Clinical Lab Scientist license. Five years recent generalist experience, preferably at high volume or hospital laboratory. Must have knowledge of testing methodologies and how laboratory tests can support the diagnosis and therapy of patients, in order to interact with physicians, pharmacists and other healthcare personnel. Must have management skills such as planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the work of others. The incumbent is required to have an academic background, practical experience, and teaching ability in laboratory science, as well as leadership skills in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the work of others. The incumbent needs to anticipate and respond to customer service expectations of the Health System and the Clinical Laboratories. Must have knowledge of infection control practices and use of laboratory tests to support this area. Must have current knowledge of CAP, Joint Commission, California State, CLIA and Cal OSHA guidelines and regulations. Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team and maintain a positive humanistic attitude. Must be able to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
