Position Requires Operational, Leadership, Personnel, Quality, Finance, Technical, Scientific, Project and Management skills:
Provide supervision, development, support, and mentoring to our three component labs located in St. Paul, Duluth, and Lincoln
Ensure staffing levels and staff schedules balance work life balance with efficient operations
Champion and facilitate standardization of work process between divisions
Interact with other directors and managers to promote interdepartmental synergies
Ensure a culture of continuous process improvement and reduce manufacturing waste
Explore ways to gain efficiencies and economies of scale through the selection of equipment, collection bags, product mix, production location, and staff scheduling
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
Ensure that current good manufacturing practices are evident in all component manufacturing functions
Ensure that proficiency testing requirements are met
Create and adhere to departmental budgets
Use effective cost control and resource management techniques to reduce waste
Prepare equipment replacement and acquisition plans
Provide project scientific and management leadership
Analyze and problem-solve
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, or Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences
Five years relevant technical experience in a laboratory environment (Ideally would prefer two years of laboratory training or experience in hematology and bacteriology. Alternatively, an individual with an earned doctoral or master’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution requires at least one year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in hematology and bacteriology.)
OR Five years cGMP Biologics manufacturing operations experience assuring compliance with safety and cGMP requirements while adhering to a biologics manufacturing schedule.
SBB or BB certification perferred
Experience working in a component production laboratory; manufacturing experience using cGMPs perferred
