Nursing Manager for FACT accredited National Cord Blood Program
Our Program is a research program (IRB) under the New York Blood Center's National Cord Blood Program (NYBC). The goal is to collect placental blood that can be processed into stem cells by the NYBC. These units will be placed in the Public Cord Blood Bank in New York and will be used for transplant similar to bone marrow transplants.
The Cord Blood team interacts with patients to discuss donating to the program, collects placentas after delivery, collects maternal blood specimens, and interviews qualifying patients. As a manager, the responsibilities would be to oversee five staff members, including day-to-day supervision, employee relations, staff development, daily operations, and regulatory preparedness. Demonstrates leadership traits and supports behavioral competencies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient computer skills. Proven Leadership Skills and highly effective at leading a team and fostering a team environment. Demonstrates professionalism. Customer focused, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain partnerships. Strong problem solving capabilities and can effectively prioritize. Able to serve as a mentor and resource to other RNs.
Serves as primary liaison and information resource for unit.
