St. Joseph Hospital is seeking Medical Technologists and Lead Technologists to join the Lab department and provide support to the critical 2nd and 3rd shift teams. In these roles, candidates will collect and analyze human clinical specimens using established, approved, medical laboratory methods. Testing methods used may be waived, moderately complex or highly complex as defined by CLIA 88.
- Perform analytical testing procedures on human clinical specimens in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Transfusion/Blood Bank sections.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repair of complex instruments.
- Perform and interpret quality control procedures to ensure high degree of accuracy and precision.
- Interpret analytical data and correlate to patient’s clinical condition.
- Function in a leadership role to assist section supervisors with providing effective core laboratory operations.
As Medical Technologists in our laboratory, employees must complete the NHDES required hazardous waste level training as defined in the SJH Hazardous Waste Training Plan-2014 as administered by the St. Joseph Hospital Safety Officer.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or closely related field or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA-88 standards. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist by ASCP, or equivalent certification, is required. In these roles, candidates must be proficient with use of laboratory analytical equipment along with being able to enter and retrieve data from a Laboratory Information System. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with the public and medical/nursing personnel. In addition, candidates should be able to make decisions under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and manage stress appropriately.
