The University of California (UC), Davis, School of Medicine, department of Pathology seeks to hire a full-time clinical faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, in the Clin X or HSCP series. This position is a clinician-educator and includes clinical service in transfusion medicine, and responsibilities in in quality improvement and laboratory management. Occasional cross-coverage for clinical service in other laboratory sections may be assigned, based on the successful candidate's background and laboratory need. Collaborative participation in research that supports the department's research mission is required. Teaching is required and may include clinical, didactic, multi-disciplinary conferences, and small group teaching of housestaff, medical students, clinical laboratory science students, and practicing physicians.
Basic Requirements: MD, or MD/PhD and certified by the American Board of Pathology in clinical pathology or by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties in one of the following: anesthesiology, colon and rectal surgery, internal medicine, neurological surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedic surgery, pediatrics, plastic surgery, or thoracic surgery. Additionally, the candidate must be board-certified, or -eligible, in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, and qualified or eligible for the American Society of Clinical Pathology's Qualification in Apheresis. Experience in teaching and clinical service is required in one or more of the following areas: Stem cell collections by apheresis (autologous and allogeneic), therapeutic apheresis, blood bank services, quality programs, and utilization management. The candidate must meet requirements for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor in one of the University of California's clinically intensive academic series. California professional license or eligibility for licensure in California is required. Additionally, the successful candidate must have the ability to maintain a high level of service, work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, and should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with medical and technical staff, trainees, and others.
Preferred Requirements: Training or experience in molecular pathology, and/or medical informatics.
