Nemours Alfred I DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware is conducting a nationwide search for a Medical Technologist in our Blood Bank. This position serves as a bench technologist responsible for the provision of laboratory services and related tasks in the Blood Bank. Performance of analytical procedures using manual Gel methodology. Able to perform routine and stat blood bank testing to include but not limited to pretransfusion testing, direct antiglobulin testing, eluate, antibody titration, sickle cell testing following established procedures. Able to trouble shoot test performance for unexpected results
Performance of component modifications to include but not limited to irradiation, dividing, washing, saline replacement, thawing, pooling and reconstitution following established procedures. Able to accurately calculate product volume based on patient weight
Experience with SoftBank computer system is preferred
Able to demonstrate exceptional customer service with phone, in-person and written communication
Able to prioritize and respond accordingly to patient care requests
Able to follow all hospital and departmental policies in regards to technical, administrative and safety guidelines
Able to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment following established procedures and/or instruction
Organization and attention to detail is essential
Accepts and provides feedback, gives accurate information and maintains ongoing communication with coworkers, internal and external customers
Thinks proactively to anticipate patient care needs
Sets priorities and schedules time efficiently to handle multiple tasks
Bachelor’s degree with Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science concentration
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP BOC). If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first six months of employment.
