The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor II supports departmental goals through the management of testing processes and staff performed on the Evening Shift in SESP. This includes routine focus on Hematology and Coagulation, Chemistry and Blood Bank lab sections. The primary focus is on maintaining top quality test performance, including monitoring staff competency and training, workload assignments, and routine production troubleshooting and problem resolution.REQUIRED--Must possess California State issued Clinical Laboratory Science license as appropriate for job responsibilities, (current and renewed annually or biannually as required).--Possess technical knowledge of Point-of-Care Testing procedures as necessary within the scope of job responsibilities.--Demonstrated supervisory skills, knowledge and abilities.--Must possess knowledge of medical terminology, basic human anatomy, basic chemistry and technical knowledge to complete assigned tasks.--Knowledge of personal computer, word processing, data management, and spreadsheet software.--Knowledge of Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems (LIS/HIS/EMR).--Knowledge of Standard Precautions.--Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), National Center for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) clinical laboratory safety regulations.--Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Ability to lead discussions, to articulate test procedures, and to make effective presentations. --Must be able to write clear technical reports in the scientific format and to maintain logs in the same manner.--Excellent interpersonal and team management skills to deal with physicians, scientists, nursing and other staff. --Tact and diplomacy skills to meet the needs of a highly interactive position.--Ability to work well under pressure to meet commitments and to remain flexible with a variety of changing demands.--Ability to manage several projects or tasks simultaneously and to exercise appropriate judgment when prioritizing projects of assignments.--Ability to work as a member of a team and to assist colleagues as needed.--Ability to function and work in a diverse work environment.--Knowledge of UCDHS and Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine polices and procedures.--Knowledge of the principles of quality control and quality assurance. --Teaching and communication skills necessary for interactions with medical technology students, pathology residents, and physicians.--Ability to organize and carry out complex analytic projects.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT--THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
