Performs test procedures in all departments of the laboratory: blood bank, coagulation, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, special procedures, urinalysis, etc. Follows all laboratory and hospital policies and procedures related to testing, specimen collections, quality control, result verifications, reporting procedures, infection control, maintenance, lab and public safety, etc.
Associates Preferred from accredited college offering a NCCLS approved Medical Laboratory Technician program, or 1 year specialized training in a certified school acceptable to the Tennessee Department of Health at a Medical Technician certified school.
Minimum Work Experience
2 years related laboratory experience preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications for position
MLT in State of Tennessee division of Health Related Boards.
Certification by the ASCP or ASMT preferred.

Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-20 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 100 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
