ProHealth Care offers a system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County and performs a wide variety of clinical tests. Our Lab services operate out of state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology. ProHealth Care offers a vibrant outreach program, providing laboratory testing to numerous specialty hospitals, physician offices, and nursing home facilities. Our Medical Director, a member of the Great Lakes Pathology group, oversees the Laboratory and works closely with leaders and employees to monitor quality, identify, access, and implement new technology. The Laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Joint Commission (JCAHO), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).
Hours: -Start times are flexible between hours of 0400-0730am. Weekend and holiday rotation included. -Travel between ProHealth Locations is required.

Summary: Performs specimen procurement procedures in various hospital departments and off-site locations. Procures blood specimens from patients by means of venipuncture, capillary, or arterial collection. Provides patient instruction relative to collection of non-blood specimens. Performs and results waived testing. Acts as a liaison between the laboratory and nurses or other healthcare providers. Must have the ability to work at various PHC Lab locations as needed.
Efficiently performs venipuncture, capillary and arterial collections with minimum discomfort and according to established policies and procedures.
Independently procures specimens at off-site locations.
Establishes positive identification of the patient prior to performing procedures.
Accurately and completely labels specimens according to established laboratory policies and procedures.
Appropriately prioritizes specimen collection requests. Responds to Stat, times and routine specimen collection requests in a timely manner as ordered.
Performs specimen collections according to sample requirements as defined in the laboratory test catalog.
Assists with loading specimens on analyzers in various departments.
Performs and results waived laboratory testing procedures in various departments.
Demonstrates understanding and effective use of the laboratory and hospital information systems for inquiry, order entry, test cancellation, documentation and collection in support of laboratory services.
Maintains specimen collection supplies in an organized manner and monitors expiration dates.
Transports specimens to the laboratory for testing and blood products to various client locations.
Prepares appropriate specimens for analysis or reference laboratories using established procedures.
Cleans and sanitizes equipment, specimen procurement, and processing areas. Ensures cleanliness and organization of laboratory vehicles. Monitors bio-hazard containers and discards sealed containers in the appropriate location.
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid WI driver's license
0-2 years of experience preferred
ASCP Phlebotomy Certification preferred
