Blood Bank Supervisor, Donor Operations/Recruitment, Reference Laboratory Director

Our Client, a non-for-profit blood center and reference lab in the NY Metro Area devoted to serving the community’s transfusion medicine needs is currently seeking to hire a Director, Technical Services who will serve as the technical subject matter expert and be responsible for the technical oversight of the community blood center.

Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
Assures quality customer service to all customers
Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates performance of assigned personnel. Identifies and effectively resolves personnel issues.
Oversees blood center manufacturing and technical processes to assure center-wide compliance manufacturing SOPs and regulations; oversees the laboratory and assigned departments work flow.
Assures the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and document control of manufacturing records. May prepare and/or review laboratory reports and records in accordance with SOPs. Takes corrective action and documents incidents. May perform final review of high-complexity testing records per CLIA requirements.
Writes, reviews, and/or approves Center Internal Procedures (CIPs), as appropriate.
Develops and performs pilot studies, as assigned.
Is responsible for the reporting and resolution of deviations (e.g., errors, quarantine, recall, equipment/reagent failures, and accidents). Oversees technical support services such as Post Donation Information, Potential Duplicate Donor records, and Progesa Corrections.
Develops and maintains regular and effective communications and relations with hospital personnel. Customer relationship is proactive and on-going and may include problem-solving, education, technical support, and program development.
Maintains effective communications and relations with other BSI divisions and operating units within the organization.
Acts as center liaison with Medical Affairs to assist with donor notification, donor counseling, and look back.
Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in related field required.
Certification and Licensure (NY) as a Medical Technologist by a recognized certifying agency.
BB or SBB.
Five years laboratory experience including three years supervisory experience.
Blood bank or blood center experience.
