Blood Bank Supervisor

We are seeking a Manager of Lab, Transfusion Services to:
Provide leadership and direction for the service team of this UW Health Clinical Laboratories areas. Services provided include Immunohematology testing, compatibility testing for blood product administration, volume reduction and irradiation of appropriate blood products and the purchase, storage, dispensing, and tracking of tissue products.
Provide technical and workflow management and supervision.
Develop and support compliance and regulatory activities for the clinical program or operational area.
Education: Minimum – BS or BA Preferred – BS in a laboratory or biological science. Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or Lab related technical area.
Work Experience: Minimum – Five (5) years of pertinent laboratory experience. Preferred – Two (2) years of experience in a leadership capacity.
Licenses & Certifications: Minimum – ASCP or equivalent certification or meet CLIA general supervisor minimum requirements, if supervising a testing area of the Laboratory. Preferred – ASCP registered as MLS (MT), MLT, CT, SCT, HT, HTL, BB, SBB, PBT, DLM or certification appropriate for Clinical Lab department(s) managed.

Physical Requirements: Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. On-call rotation with six other staff members. Additional hours may be required to meet operational needs.
