This job requires flexibility with hours. Must be able to work different hours due to blood drives. Must be able to drive a small bus which would require a clean valid Florida Driver license
$12.38 per hour to start $12.88 per hour after 6 months of meeting standards
The Blood Center Technician I is responsible for drawing blood from volunteer blood donors. Duties include interacting with prospective donors, providing information about blood donation, screening donors by conducting a mini-physical and a medical history interview, drawing blood according to specific procedures, administering post-donation care, and working with nursing staff to provide appropriate care for donors who may experience reactions during or following their donation. Completes detailed documents and records pertaining to the donation. Drives blood mobile to blood drives and maintains appropriate vehicle logs. Other duties include preparing work areas and blood mobile for blood collection and restocking supplies. Clerical duties include filing donor cards, phone reception, operation of office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines, and printers, in additional to basic computer skills in the Blood Bank computer system.
