We are currently looking for Medical Technologists to join our team!
Geisinger Medical Laboratories operates with state-of-the-art technology and information systems to provide laboratory services throughout Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) laboratory serves as the reference laboratory for all Geisinger laboratories, including our sister hospitals, clinic sites, and some private clients. We have an extensive courier systems that will deliver samples 24/7 from across the state.
We have the capability to provide a variety of specialized services such as compatibility problem resolution and specially modified products. Specialized services such as the collection, processing, freezing, storage, and thawing of peripheral blood human progenitor cells are also provided.
We are implementing ORTHO VISION Analyzers to automate transfusion testing. This system uses ID-MTS gel technology. Our Blood Bank Department performs comprehensive transfusion services for our patients. The department performs types and screens, antibody identifications; including warm and cold antibody workups, eluates, and direct antiglobulin testing. We provide a full range of blood products for patients including specialized products such as aliquots for neo-nates, antigen screened unites and washed platelets.
Our hospital includes Hematology/Oncology services, Transplant, Surgery, Cardiac and Pediatric Cardiac services. We also respond to massive transfusion protocol activations and utilize a pneumatic tube system to transport blood to locations throughout Geisinger Medical Center.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology required or three years of college and completion of one year CAHEA accredited school of medical technology required, or Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biological or physical sciences plus one year of experience/training in the specialty/subspecialty in which the tests are performed required, or three years of accredited college course work and completion date in compliance with Pennsylvania clinical laboratory regulation required, or performed duties of a medical technologist prior to June 14, 1974, and with continuous (full- or part-time) pertinent, clinically related laboratory employment since that date required, or passed proficiency exam given by the HHS (formerly HEW) with designation as a clinical laboratory technologist required.
Up to three months on the job to reach acceptable level of performance required.
