Geinger Medical Laboratories operates with state-of-the-art technology and information systems to provide laboratory services throughout Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) laboratory serves as the reference laboratory for all Geisinger laboratories, including our sister hospitals, clinic sites, and some private clients. We have an extensive courier systems that will deliver samples 24/7 from across the state.
We have one of the first lab automation systems (Roche c8100) in the country that connects pre-analytics with 11 chemistry analyzers, 2 coagulation analyzers, and 5 hematology analyzers. The c8100 will also store samples in an output buffer for retrieval if tests are added on and will ultimately store samples in a long-term storage unit for 3 days. Our Microbiology department has one of the first automated systems for plating urine samples.
We offer routine as well as very specialist testing:
Toxicology testing for many drug metabolites
Autoimmune testing for Lupus, Sjogerns Syndrome, etc.
Specialized coagulation testing
Extensive allergy testing
Flow cytometry testing for leukemia, lymphoma diagnostic support
Flow cytometry testing to support stem cell transplants
Extensive infectious disease testing for Hepatitis, Epstein Barr, Varicella Zoster, CMV, Toxoplasma, Herpes, Measles and Mumps
Lyme disease testing with confirmation
HIV testing with confirmation
Serum and urine protein electrophoresis with confirmations for multiple myeloma diagnostic support
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology required or three years of college and completion of one year CAHEA accredited school of medical technology required, or Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biological or physical sciences plus one year of experience/training in the specialty/subspecialty in which the tests are performed required, or three years of accredited college course work and completion date in compliance with Pennsylvania clinical laboratory regulation required, or performed duties of a medical technologist prior to June 14, 1974, and with continuous (full- or part-time) pertinent, clinically related laboratory employment since that date required, or passed proficiency exam given by the HHS (formerly HEW) with designation as a clinical laboratory technologist required.
MLT qualifications will also be considered at appropriate compensation.
