Due to the complexity of this department, candidate should have five (5) years of experience as an MT/MLS in a Transfusion Service. SBB is preferred, but not required. Candidate must be willing to participate in on-call rotation of approximately 1/6 weeks and act as backup call 1/6 weeks. Candidate will receive at least six (6) months of training working Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM and then move to a morning shift. Preferred hours would be 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, but some flexibility is available.
Provides services of both a technical and non-technical nature in the laboratory service areas. Performs routine and complex laboratory tests in an assigned department of the clinical laboratory to provide physicians with rapid and accurate laboratory test results. Duties include preparation of specimens for processing in the laboratory; performance of waived, moderate, and highly complex analytical process; establishing performing and documenting quality assurance, quality control, and equipment maintenance; recognizing problems and identifying causes; developing alternatives and determining solutions; confirming and verifying results through an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments; correlating and interpreting data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results; data handling and input.
Bachelor’s degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences
Current MLS(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
Note: Applications will be accepted from candidates who are scheduled to graduate at the end of the current academic term, and if hired will have 6 months from graduation to obtain certification. Other restrictions may apply
