Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine is seeking a Transfusion Safety Specialist to join our team. Lancaster General Health transfuses over 12,000 blood products annually across many different clinical specialties including active Trauma, CT Surgery, Neonatal, Oncology, Orthopedic and Surgical programs. The Patient Blood Management Program at Lancaster General Health serves to promote effective use of blood products, utilize alternative therapies and provide appropriate utilization and blood administration safety. Areas of oversight include Lancaster General Hospital, Women & Babies Hospital and all clinical blood administration areas.
The position is based at Lancaster General Hospital, a 631 licensed bed not-for-profit health system, which is part of University of Pennsylvania Health System (Penn Medicine). Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
Knowledge in blood transfusion practices and blood administration is required.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or related field preferred.
Educational and teaching experience including physician and clinical staff education is preferred.
Knowledge of clinical blood management and hemotherapy practices is preferred.
Knowledge of regulatory (e.g. FDA, AABB, CAP, ACR, TJC)) and quality system (e.g. LEAN, six sigma) elements is preferred.
